Safeguard Training
All adults who work in schools are required to undertake
basic training in child protection and this training should be
repeated at 3 year intervals.
The objectives of this e-learning programme are to help all
candidates:
- Understand their role in school
- Appreciate the first principles of child protection and
welfare
- Recognise the potential signs of child abuse
- Understand how to report any concerns
- Behave in appropriate ways in school that protects
pupils
- Behave in ways that prevents them from being vulnerable
to unnecessary suspicion or unwarranted complaints
The programme will cover key areas and will, at intervals,
check your understanding by asking you a series of multiple
choice questions. This programme is not a test and you will not
pass or fail it. The questions are there simply to ensure you
have understood the subject matter and to reinforce the
learning.
At various points you will be invited to download key
documents. We would encourage you to do this, familiarise
yourself with them and keep them somewhere safe for future
